Classic Spanish

Chaucer is a classic Spanish-style home common to much of the Peninsula, and in particular Palo Alto. Here, the homeowners sought to renovate and update, but in a manner that maintained respect for the original design. The living room was largely intact and served as the style guide for the balance of the project, which was gutted and remodeled but done so by matching many of the interior and exterior architectural details — scalloped stucco at gable ends, hand carved wood beams inside, and exterior iron work.

Like many of our clients, the homeowners proved to be rather detail oriented, and frequently commented that our weekly meetings were the best part of the process, because they relieved them from worry, allowing them to enjoy seeing the progress, getting updates, making decisions and otherwise relax knowing that we had it handled.
